About
Coming from Singapore, a nation known for its excellence in education and technology, I always had a clear goal: to build a career in aviation. Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by aircraft — not just flying in them, but understanding how they work. When the opportunity came to study Aircraft Maintenance Engineering at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), I knew this was the place where my future could truly take flight.
Arriving in Nanjing was exciting and overwhelming. I had never lived away from home, and now I was starting a completely new life in a country with a different language, culture, and environment. But from the moment I stepped onto the NUAA campus, I felt something special. The atmosphere was welcoming, the faculty were approachable, and my fellow students were eager to connect and support each other. What stood out to me right away was how seriously NUAA takes its engineering education. The university doesn’t just focus on theory; it prioritizes hands-on learning, industrial exposure, and real-world applications.
NUAA is not just preparing me academically; it’s shaping me as a future professional. Working with students from across the globe has made me more culturally aware, collaborative, and flexible. Whether it’s coordinating a group project with someone from another continent or explaining my ideas across a language barrier, I’m learning how to be a better teammate and future leader.
Living in Nanjing has added another beautiful dimension to my journey. The city is a blend of ancient heritage and modern innovation. On weekends, I explore local street food markets, temples, and parks. I’ve even started learning some Nanjing dialect — a skill I never imagined I would pick up, but one that’s becoming increasingly useful in daily life and future career settings. I’ve also had the chance to represent Singapore at cultural events, sharing our food and traditions with others. These moments make me proud of where I come from, and remind me how valuable cross-cultural understanding is — especially in global industries like aviation.
After completing my studies, my goal is to return to Singapore or work in another international aviation hub, where I can begin my career as a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer. I hope to work with airlines like Singapore Airlines, or in major MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) organizations such as ST Engineering or SAESL.
If you're a student considering where to study, especially in a field as critical and exciting as aviation, I encourage you to consider NUAA. It’s more than just a university — it’s a place that prepares you for the real world, challenges you to grow, and supports you every step of the way. For me, coming from Singapore to NUAA was a leap of faith — and one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m not just chasing a dream. I’m building it, piece by piece, with the tools and guidance I’ve found here in China.
